I always wonder what they mean about personalized music. Is it like “I’m in the mood today to listen to a dark blues song… Make the lyrics about my dead dog ben in the style of _”?

Is there anyone who’d prefer that than to listen to real music made by another human that had similar feelings (of grief maybe) as you are feeling right now? To me, at least, a big point of art is being able to share and connect with others.

7 years ago, this was what it meant. Which sort of sounds like perfectly mediocre royalty-free soundtrack music.

Want some gritty Delta blues music? Sure - something that doesn’t honor the experiences of the past and people, but just the right sounds mashed together. Or Jazz or rock or whatever… just sounds that sound right when next to each other. Basic LLM stuff.

I’m pretty sure they just mean an algorithm is good at figuring out the lyrics/tempo/genre of music you prefer listening to and synthesize something similar. In my case this is usually pretty situational–so until AI can figure out what my mood is it will miss pretty big at times as my workout tastes are way different than my chill or nostalgic preferences.

Don’t worry, they will have you under surveillance and study your facial expressions to decide what music is approved for your current mood. All corporate approved to ensure they suppress any rebellious thoughts.
