“all old people are rich and evil” is a bad retort.

There’s plenty of old people who are poor. Who never got a say in any of this. There’s plenty of old hippies who spent their lives at protests. Plenty of old anarchist and communists.

So it’s just helping the problem to say we should hate all old people.

There’s millennials who are rich right wingers, but saying “therefore we should hate all millennials” would also be a distraction from class politics.

Don’t help the wealthy do that, because we need old lefties on the protest lines as much as we need anyone on the protest lines.

You either pull people in, or you push them out, and the left needs people.

I agree. It is a weird retort to make, when defending the generation responsible for Vietnam, Cuba, Bay of Pigs, Pinochet’s rise, Maduro’s rise, the Korean, Hawaii, Puerto Rican genocide, etc… Why would innocent boomers suddenly solidify for special 100 boomers when engaging on a political meme criticizing a generation responsible for sooo much destruction?
Are you by any chance a gulity conscious boomer trying plea for néos not to fire squad you for your sins?

I think you’re trying personal attacks because you want to stay in a lazy thought pattern, because it’s easy and apathetic. Looking at the past, excuses you from acting in the future.

For your information, I’m part of the generation responsible for the later Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the “dot com” bubble, data centers, mass surveillance, mass pornography, and the bleaching of coral reefs.

Let me guess you’re from the one true generation, in which life and the planet got healthy again, and Capitalism was made ethical and just.

I fucking hope so. I know you do too.

Just delete your responses here if you earnest believe there are intersecting boomers going to help us out. Solidarity is a bridge.
What you’re doing is ensnaring us. Let us know when you find the intersecting boomer still sabotaging the “Epstein class.”

I think there are boomers on both sides. Boomers are dying out by the way. Gen X are entering their 60s (the age depicted in your meme).

When young Joe Biden dies we’ll all know the ladder has shifted, and we’ll need some “Gen-X did this to us memes” - so better get them ready if you want to perpetuate the cycle.

Then why hasn’t the other side already won against the malicious side? How did Gen X convince Boomers they are entitled to so much destruction and not a lick of responsibility? How have boomers convinced you this is a perpetual game we must adhere to?

I’m talking about cultural reproduction as per the Marxists at The Frankfurt School wrote about (nothing to do with boomers secretly indoctrinating Gen-Xers or whatever shitzoposting BS you’re on about). But yeah, I get it, you want to ignore what previous generations (even the Marxists) have looked at (they’re all one collective bad guy). Why are you even replying to me? I already said I understand your angry-boi venting. You think you venting via memes will stop Capitalist culture. Okay, cool, good luck with “slacktivism” as they called it in the early 2000s.

Unsurprisingly it didn’t change much then.

I think much farther than the mass deceiving class:
what are we doing for our comrades’ future, here, and now?

I know not supporting my oppressors is one thing I can clearly act upon.

Whatever generation you are in also has people in power who are fucking the planet. Are you responsible for them? No.

There are many many boomers who put up a good fight and are still putting up a good fight. We need solidarity with all people who are not those who are destroying the planet. These reductive “boomers did it” memes ignores the reality that a very small cohort of people are destroying the world. And they all benefit when anger is directed at people who are powerless.

        Wait, you have a néocracy‽

Are you responsible for them? No.

This would be the only logical reason you would say this utterly irresponsible statement, like if guardians deposit children to the forest as soon as they are born.

There are many many boomers who put up a good fight and are still putting up a good fight.

Where? I see most boomers voted to utterly crush us, in nearly all fascist nations.

very small cohort of people are destroying the world

Again, how do you think they got cohorts to even achieve this?
Do you think fucking the planet is only possible by 100 people‽

And they all benefit when anger is directed at people who are powerless .

        Bridal Chorus:
Here comes the lie, there comes the truth♪
The “powerless” are choking the living daylights of the youth!♪

Do you think fucking the planet is only possible by 100 people‽

100 companies are responsible for 70% in of greenhouse gas emissions. Infighting isn’t going to stop that.

Just 57 companies are responsible for 80 per cent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to a new report released by UK-based think tank InfluenceMap.

The report also reveals big producers did not reduce, but rather increased, their output of fossil fuels in the seven years after the Paris Agreement.

          Source: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-05/small-cohort-of-mega-polluters-produce-most-of-greenhouse-gas/103669772

So why did I say 100, if the report says 57? It’s because the figures fluctuates, and there are other reports with other figures (they always confirm that Capitalism produces a minority against the majority). The fact remains that culpable, true “I’m a billionaire getting rich from the company” isn’t a majority position…

…but it needs a majority solution to stop it. You’re on the wrong end of the argument, and should deescalate. This isn’t a problem of all old people being evil.

Even with boomers who are millionaires owning two homes they simply are not enormously wealthy by global billionaire standards (a billion is an order of magnitude larger than a millionaire. Especially a low millionaire). They seem wealthy to me, and you, and probably a lot of other people on this end of the spectrum, but in the grand scheme they’re not the driving force in the state of the planet today. We could say they’re a voting factor, but not (generally) a lobbying factor.

EDIT: clarified my “are not wealthy” statement, because it’s aimed at “compared to the top end” rather than the bottom end - the poorest (anyone reading this is wealthy compared to the barefoot poorest of the world).

I think you’re missing my point entirely.
The generation responsible for fucking our planet,
are the majority now. They can easily overpower and can easily “deescalate” the 57 companies they work for.

If you’re a boomer, sabotage your company right now.
Stop replying to me. Go on, save the planet you love so much.

Ultimately positive action, that produces something constructive attracts more money, interest, and help than negative online criticism done purely as criticism/venting.

I understand you just want to vent, and cope via memes that say “boomers did this to me”. That’s fine, go right ahead man. You do you, because what else can you do.

              It’s frustrating.

No man, what have boomers sold you that warrants your constructive positive intersection, than solidifying with the generation struggling against their oppression, and your nieces and nephew’s generation?
I run a canteen, because I am actually political active with my community. I know how gen x, boomers, millennials, zoomers, and gen alpha behave and commune with each other. And the boomers simply refuse to intersect. They think they are entitled to keep oppressing us, with their retirement packages, sign up boni, second homes, etc…
What boomer promised you something that they haven’t relinquished to you yet?

Weird choice of words… canteen… is that like, a cafeteria? Do you mean a cafe? Or a “food not bombs” style deal? One that feeds activists/protesters? OR just a whole foods? Or a friends-of-the-earth type deal? Or a free shop for the homeless?
