One Reddit user spotted an Aliexpress ad for a “pet incinerator” on Instagram, a macabre encounter that raises plenty of questions.

Morbid as they are, pet incinerators are a reasonable purchase for businesses that need to safely dispose of a deceased animal, such as a veterinary clinic.

But the optics are dicey for an ad on social media, and even more so when it’s targeting users outside the veterinary industry and features adorable AI-generated images of pets.

I don’t see why it ever would be a good idea to advertise this on social media. Must be a way to target only clinics.

And the pics are fucking horrible.

Or it’s just an automated ad pulling a random product onto some one’s feed based on viewing history. Which then got passed around which caused the algorithm to start spreading the ad

I suppose if your viewing history includes bulk orders of veterinary supplies, this is probably a decently targeted ad.

Shit, I’m glad I don’t see ads (if you take injected medications it’s a lot easier to just buy syringes in bulk from veterinary suppliers)

It’s Ali Express, they could have viewed anything vent related and it pulled an item with the same tag. I viewed a customized tshirt with a funny saying and the name KIM on it (I’m not Kim nor do I have any one close named Kim)

I now get a million ads for stupid customized everything with KIM as the customizable name, just because I viewed one item to read what the joke on the shirt said

Phrasing here is what’s weird. Who exactly is the target audience of buyers?

If they called it “animal crematorium” or “carcass incinerator”, it would make sense for veterinary clinics and farms. Who tf searches for “pet incinerator”?

The fact that they added the word “custom” to a lot of the ads also raises the question of who’s out there pimping out a pet incinerator.

Since this is Alibaba, I think it’s meant for resellers getting their logo stamped onto a white label product like this one.

I don’t want people to get the wrong idea and click away thinking this is for incinerating the family dog or cat.

    It also works on rabbits.

Of course it’s aliexpress. I suspect it’s automated. I’ve received ads for dental chairs, diggers, skincare lasers, and everything in between while shopping for electrical connectors (deutsch).

No, FBI wants them for sex, homeland security is the group who wants them dead. All probably to keep any dead pets out of RFKs mouth

“Let’s send mixed messages. Be sure to include lots of healthy, well-groomed, cute pets in the ad. Also, make sure the animals are sized oddly relative to one another, to give potential buyers no sense of scale. If we don’t know how big this thing is, then neither should they.”
