The processor isn’t the problem. They could’ve put a fuckin 9850X3D in this thing and it will still run like a turd with 8GB RAM.

It doesn’t just have the wrong processor, it’s been modified at the firmware level to reflect in the system a CPU that’s not installed.

RSS was killed by greed. Too many companies pumping out too much SEO garbage that I don’t care about, and not providing anything more than a headline in return. The threadiverse produces a curated feed of articles that are boosted up and down by the community. That’s why I’m here.

It doesn’t matter what the usecase is if the Wifi or speakers or camera don’t work. Or if all the icons and text are so small as to be nearly impossible to read.

Ubuntu? Yeah. It’s pretty much the only distro I will recommend against using (the Ubuntu spins are usually fine though). They offer Fedora as well though. And it’s still way better than Winblows.

I’m just not interested in rehashing this conversation. Anyone who has used Linux already knows, even if they won’t admit it. Being dishonest about it isn’t helping anyone. I used Windows for 30 years and never touched any kind of CLI in that time. I did use it on MacOS but only for Homebrew because there’s no other GUI alternative.

Couldn’t disagree more. Having to learn how to use the command line to complete basic tasks is a huge learning curve.

It’s nothing to do with length. I just don’t make a habit of visiting any particular website to read it. That’s what the threadiverse is for.

We have Wanderer, which is actually excellent, except it’s only for sharing trails, and not activities.

Not gonna lie, Linux is a pretty big learning curve, but it’s worth it to get away from Apple and (especially) Microslop Winblows. It’s the only OS that respects the user.

Not until everyone starts doing it. This used to be the norm.

They’re usually also well supported on Linux, and even sell them with Ubuntu and Fedora pre-installed. Generally not a terrible brand.

At $500 it’s not a bad value. Could still do better on the used market.

People keep saying to buy this thing all the time, seemingly unaware of the fact that every Apple product has an expiration date, when Apple arbitrarily decides that it’s “obsolete”. That 2020 MacBook has like 1 year of life left in it.
