I often don’t believe people when they say “both sides bad” so whatever, it doesn’t matter. Besides the point.
Hell, even the “lesser-evil” argument is just a reframing against consequentialism. If you aren’t a consequentialist you aren’t a person worth debating on the topic of voting for the lesser evil. So we don’t need to talk.
And even just on an emotional level: You aren’t dragging me and my friends and family into hell and then getting me to help you in revolutionary action.
When a country has genocide as bipartisan policy, the consequentialist choice is whatever will cause that country to collapse fastest. And ever time you point that out, BlueMaga liberals suddenly flip on a dime to condemning consequentialism.
You aren’t dragging me and my friends and family into hell and then getting me to help you in revolutionary action
Ok, but when you drag other people’s friends and families into hell (in a much more severe way than anything you’re facing), don’t expect us to fucking vote for you, you selfish fuck.

If that’s the case you can argue a ton of countries other than the US need or have needed to collapse. Some that I’m pretty sure you’d rush to defend or engage in denialism about.
Consequentialism through blinders, bad analysis. The US isn’t going to fully collapse in a way that prevents genocide and that was never a realistic outcome with republicans winning in 2024. The military wing of the US government will continue to be well funded. The global monied interests and religious interests in the gaza genocide wont suddenly disappear.
What instead is going to happen is poor people within what you probably describe as the imperial core will simply live worse, shorter, and more miserable lives over the next half a century. That’s all you really achieved here if you wanted Trump to win.

I’m not running for office you fucking fuck and I did not choose to be born here or to exist at all. I and my friends and family are not responsible for the gaza genocide… if you think I owe people to an extent that I’m indebted to give over my life in a glorious revolution to save gaza from the zionists you are a psychopath.
I’ll admit, for the most part, I complain, but I’m moderately insulated from the worst elements of the Trump presidency. I live downtown in a mid sized city. The only real consequence being I’ve had to take a second (walking distance) job at basically the same pay because my hours were reduced at my main job, a non-profit, because it relied on a “DEI” grant being renewed. And I am LGBT but I’m very stealth. I’m a white cis bi dude. In most ways I’ll be fine. I’m technically working more hours and making more money than I was before now, I’d just prefer actually to work less.
But I know rural people have it way way fucking rougher economically (though tbh most of them can fuck off anyway). I know my trans friends are scared. I know my Hispanic friends are really fucking terrified. People are dying inside ICE camps at an alarming rate or being deported and killed by people they were fleeing. I know people will end up sick and dying because RFK is fucking around with our public health system.
And I know my life has indeed been made worse than it’d be if we had just elected shitty liberals over the stupid fascists.
And you know, people exist outside the US and the Gaza strip. Millions have already died from famine and disease in Africa by cuts to USAID. People will die globally due to Trump’s Iran War and how its impacted the global economy in ways that will dwarf the direct deaths stemming from the war itself.
So its not just bitterness I feel over the harm I’m experiencing for just myself, its understanding that this has just brought horrible death and pain to the entire globe over political myopia of people like yourself. You are either obsessed with your personal abstemious virtue or overly invested in campism, historical religious or ethnic grievance.
And at this point? In a way I’m emotionally kind of now with you though: bring on the collapse. Mostly because fuck it, a lot of the people who chose not to vote or voted Trump will feel much more of the burn. Like I said, I’m mostly insulated. Or at least as insulated as a poor American can be. I mostly just worry about my friends and family.
