Every white nationalist is a white supremacist. It’s inherent in the desire to have the nation just for them. There are white supremacists that aren’t white nationalists, but that’s mostly just because they aren’t thinking that big.

There’s no reason for nuance when the effect of that nuance is to downplay the core issue. If people were viewing nationalism as a more organized and impactful form of virulent racism then it might make sense, but it’s mostly just an effort to rebrand white supremacy from tatted up skinhead neo-Nazis to Polo shirts and tiki torches, because the latter’s grooming is more specifically compatible with “polite society” and a “marketplace of ideas”.

Every rectangle is a square, not all squares are rectangles. Plenty of white supremacists that also believe the govt can’t be trusted - Trump in power or no.

No shit?! Look at Mr Big fuckin brain over here reasoning out the dreadfully obvious! Go figure white nationalism is a more nuanced descriptive label. Also good job stating why your argument is fuckin dumb as shit.

There are white supremacists that aren’t white nationalists, but that’s mostly just because they aren’t thinking that big.

So why do we call them white nationalists? Because it’s more descriptive and still calls them a white supremacist. Which leaves the question why do you insist on less adjectives, less descriptors, and less nuance? Are you somehow offended by being wrapped in with white nationalists? I have my guess and I’m betting it’s pretty fuckin accurate.

Lol, Mr. Nuance is Good jumping to the most insane conclusion possible while actively ignoring the direct words that answer “why wouldn’t you want to called them nationalists vs. supremacists”.

The media sanitizes white supremacy, because calling it what it is causes unpleasant cognitive dissonance in Jane from the suburbs whose clean cut son watches the same “urban decay” news stories she does but doesn’t use the euphemisms to pretty it up. White supremacists are tattooed gang members, not her precious little boy. People have a baked in view about white supremacists being bad guys, but with a simple change of label they’re able to pretend this is a brand new thing. This whole thread is about how comfortable the media is with using “nationalist” vs. “supremacist” and it’s not because they think “nationalist” is a worse term that will shock the reader.

Bro at this point I kinda doubt your ability to read and kinda assume at this point you’re having ai read it to you and write your response because I truly hope you aren’t actually this fucking dumb.

I answered that question, I prefer it because it’s more descriptive. It’s saying why wouldn’t you describe mud as only dirt instead of wet dirt.

Holy fucking shit. White nationalism is my fucking definition white supremacy the phrase simply adds a descriptor for detail. I you can’t possibly be this dumb, I refuse to believe it.

Votes don’t matter in any sort of inherent sense of worth way. We’re both people who have and express opinions. But if I was getting universally downvoted for my opinion like you are, I think I’d take a moment of self-reflection before coming to the conclusion that everyone you interact with is an illiterate asshole.

And seriously, if you’re going to jump to a “you’re dumb” insult, starting the comment off with “Bro” and following with misspellings and bad grammar isn’t really giving it the punch you imagine. But hey, maybe it really is everyone else who’s the problem in this conversation.
