No, it doesn’t “need” corn. It wants cheap corn as animal food, so that consumers can buy cheap meat etc. This is not necessary at all, and if we reduce the amount of factory farmed animals it will be actually beneficial.
Beneficial to which party?
It’s simple: if they have higher quality corn at a lower price, great; if not, they should find another product to produce. It’s called capitalism, and American farmers say they like it that way.
