Honestly, any mandatory use of some something that can generate dangerous, factually incorrect text and images should be absolutely forbidden. Government / public services shouldn’t use them at all without automated checking that can operate at the same speeds and doesn’t make those mistakes. Private organizations should be forced to provide all consumers as easy opt-out from using them.

Opt-in entertainment purpose should ALSO be regulated for safety. And, with “hallucinations” being mathematically impossible to eliminate, I’m not sure liability risk will leave an product people will want to afford.

It’s not mandatory, but man they are pushing us to use AI at work, and anytime leadership asks “let us know if you can think of a good use case” it’s crickets.

Like, we are a very hands on department, the best most can come up with is automating reading a couple of logs. Or for writing emails. Like, no thanks, I am capable of writing, plus AI written emails make me glaze over immediately.

But then also every new AI tool has this big side comment to “verify information.” Like ok, if I am going to verify, why didn’t I just read it myself in the first place.
