Some AI bro made a huge order (200+ €) of rare italian books at full price with the purpose of destroying them in order to train some model

In the beginning he was puzzled why some american would want to spend hundreds of dollars to import discontinued books on mostly religious topics (a real human would never buy this stuff, it’s ultraniche and expensive), then we connected the dots.

He got an hilarious idea: poison their “known good pre-LLM dataset” by swapping barcodes with modern slop clearly made by an LLM like this

How to cook chocolate strawberries with an air fryer: this recipe it’s lighter as they’re not fried in oil but glazed

I guess at least they got paid. I mean, it’s a book store.

Your friend should scan them and release the contents of all books online for free.

That addressed you leaked is quite a nice area and nearby a big name university. I personally think you are jumping the gun. You should search their name in the William and Mary directory.

Also a real human would never purchase older religious works? What nonsense is this opinion?

        Coincidence? lol!

        Your logic is quite unfollowable.

Zoom books https://zoombooks.ca/ is exactly what they say it is.

So a large and legitimate book seller that emphasizes empowering readers is ignored as suspicion by you all? Why not first do your research?

Then someone purchases books from you all and you complain on Lemmy without first doing any research? You half dox them and also consider sending them fake books.

Your post and this comment seem to imply Religious Studies as a field doesn’t exist, people cannot be interested in reading about religion, and other book sellers cannot exist.

        What nonsense!

Yes because there is actual people that really want to read “Advent and Christmas 2022–2023. Liturgical Pastoral Resource” and not the 2026-2027.

Oh, coincidence again, it meets the LLM cutoff date

Darn! You mean now I’ll never get to read these ultra niche and expensive books that no human would ever buy? The humanity!
