Not especially, no. But it is a good way to start talking about climate change, which is mainly what the article is actually about.

I had to look this up and I’m surprised this wasn’t some wordplay that they just didn’t bother to translate. It really was just stacking another modifier on the old hottest category. 超猛暑日/猛暑日 chomoshobi/moshobi
Down here in Florida, we just call it “a scorcher”. 🥵
Here in Brisbane, that’s just January. Further north, it’s even more usual.
