Hey, total noob here. I’ve been free of Windows and using Mint for a whooping 2 days. It’s been great. I work on text docs 7 hours a day. Libre Office didn’t mesh with Mint, and I’m using OnlyOffice. It’s perfect for my needs. BUT.
Back on Word, I had Autocorrect customized with shortcuts for phrases I use a lot. It’s a feature I absolutely need. I can’t find it in OnlyOffice. For maths, yes. For text, nothing.
There must be a plugin, a script (not sure what scripts are, tbh), something.
I’m not talking about autocomplete (I don’t want it to list words I might be typing, I want it to insert “Hello world” as soon as I type “hh” or whatever.)
Please?
https://espanso.org/ might be what you are looking for. It works across all your apps.
At lunch, can’t test it rn, but it looks perfect.
And (more importantly?), it feels so good to be able to ask and receive help. There might be something about this open source software fad after all. Joke aside, thank you, I can’t wait to dive deeper and learn.Adding matches is a bit clunky–but it’ll soon know all the ones i need. Otherwise, it’s perfect, thanks a lot!
Also, I installed using the console (the terminal?): I’m excessively proud of myself.
right on
Libre Office didn’t mesh with Mint
That’s not a thing. Do you mean you didn’t mesh with LibreOffice?
Libre Office kept freezing for ten or fifteen seconds every minute or so, no matter what I was doing or not doing with it at the time. Someone in the Linux community told me it could happen and gave me a fix I couldn’t begin to understand before adding that OnlyOffice should give a smoother experience. It does. That’s all i know.
Since tone doesn’t translate through text, i would be curious too and non-judgemental about what they meant about it not meshing with Mint.
