Anthropic’s mounting operating losses coupled with emerging competition from a plethora of open-source models led New Constructs to conclude that, “We don’t think Anthropic has a viable business.”

Nvidia is the only obvious one that had a stable business before, took big wins from this AI era, and would survive a bubble bursting. The rest of them are burning as much investor cash as possible just trying to compete with each other, but open source is preventing them from forming a monopoly that way so they’re kinda fucked.

In the gold rushes, the people that gouged the miners generally did better than the miners I would add. As in san francisco.

There is genuine demand for Nvidia’d hardware, and probably always will be as parallel processesing and matrix math are fundamentally useful.

At the same time, the rate and level of growth that Nvidia has seen during the AI bubble is certainly not sustainable. If and when the AI companies fail, Nvidia is going to take a big hit too.
