I didn’t realize I was advocating for voting for one of two parties. It almost seemed I was pointing out that we’re stuck in that trap without a change of voting system. Let me reread my post… yeah, that was the point.

As for the rest, you’re sort of right but very, very simplified what was going on. And of course with a different system from the start history would be different… maybe even avoided a Civil War and/or repairing its causes and damage. Oh well…
