Can I be honest for one second? There’s not even a need for a tough guy bullshit. I’m astounded that not a single nutbag hasn’t shot at these kinds of fuckers.

It is legal to be violent against civil rights activitists. The only time right wing people are prosecuted is after intense pressure applied on authorities and they know this.

Tell you the uncomfortable reality, these fuck wits have to be beaten every time the step out. Anything less and they think there is some sort of acceptance of them.

Why do you think they use violence?

You’re expressing yourself emotionally. That’s valid. But you can’t also make a serious point at the same time. People ranting and swearing while they casually discuss taking human life on online forums are rarely serious people who have any idea what they are talking about.

We don’t have to be tough to eliminate the conservative threat. We just have to be willing to finish Sherman’s work.

The Big Three news outlets in Canada pretty much ignored this story until the Kamloops local paper and social media picked it up. Now they’re all over it, pretending they were there first.

And they’re all missing the crucial point.

Second Sons are working very hard to stick to the rule of law, while instilling fear. They’re showing up in groups like this in smaller communities. They’re not in Calgary or Toronto or Vancouver, they’re north of Edmonton, or Orillia or Millarville.

They show up, dress to intimidate, act to intimidate, but don’t actually threaten. They post overt dogwhistle slogans, “Je me souviens d’un Quebec blanc” or “Indian trucks kill canucks”) which they could plausibly explain away as something else, if forced to stand on trial.

They’re getting bolder, which means they’re going to try to goad their victims into acting. They’ll obey the RCMP or local police (if the force is sufficient) without hesitation because as long as they keep showing up, as long as they keep scaring people, as long as they are able to avoid consequences for their actions, they’ll be able to hurt some people and recruit others.

They need to be driven out by the people every time they show their…well not faces, but cowardly masks. They need to be not shot or injured, but maybe detained until the police can unmask and identify them by name.

We need to publish their names. We need (and I can’t believe I would ever say this) to doxx them - to make them fear for their lives if they keep threatening society.

We need to break the back of their movement, and the media isn’t helping one goddamn bit.

Rachel Gilmore does fantastic journalist coverage and a great job of calling out specific names and people associated with it. She has been threatened quite brazenly for it, but she’s also a badass that continues to do it. We need more Rachels.

I hope the RCMP takes this seriously but knowing cops makes me think they’re more apt to protect the fascists from anyone who tries to interfere with their intimidation tactics. I sincerely hope I’m wrong though, this shit is pathetic and needs to stop.

They have always been angry. They hate minorities, change, acceptance, reason, etc. You can protest corruption, stagnation, crime, illegal immigration, etc without masks, without fear, without intimidation. These people are not healthy or normal for a functional society.

There’s a group like that in Southern Ontario that call themselves NS-13, or Nationalist 13

They’ve had a few get togethers showing off their banners, but only ever last about 15 minutes before they fuck off or police show up.

While I dislike what those individuals stand for, their attitude and their ignorance, I do not think violence towards them will change things for better but rather aggravate things.

One has to look at the root of the problem. Why are they angry etc.? Fact that we have vast economic disparity within our society breeds this kind of behavior. When resources are plenty and everyone gets their fair share and doesn’t need to live loan-to-loan people don’t usually care about exclusion of others (well, there are always zealots with loose screws) and those movements to not gain traction. Look at fascism in last century: it has risen on the back of economic collapse of society when it became easy to accept “you can’t eat because he took your food” kind of messaging.

Bottom line to stamp out those thugs we need to change our society drastically with a sharp turn left but we’re keep on veering to the right with each election, which will end up in violence one way or another. Someone however has to be focused on the target though: political and economic system in Canada is broken and needs to be rebuilt, until then we will be miserable and thugs will proliferate

I guess you didn’t grow up in one of these racist, white nationalist families. As someone who did, your whole blame shifting scenario is absurd. My uncles believe they have a birthright as white men. And they are violently furious that they aren’t thriving, at the top of the food chain. Obviously they are proudly MAGA. Of course they aren’t thriving, lol, we’re not from Texas, Kansas or Nebraska. Their racism ( and sexism) is at insane levels that I guess you can’t even fathom… The loudest laughter I ever heard at a family gathering came when my uncle told this joke: “I don’t have a problem with N@##@rs, I think everyone should own one.” Ha ha ha. There is no nuance here. To older men in my family, if you are a (stupid, because they all are) women, gay, or brown, or liberal, or Jewish, Muslim or atheist…you are filth. And any suggestion that you are equal deserves immediate, violent response. Sound crazy? Lucky you. I know from experience that kind of family and upbringing is not rare, or strange. It’s rampant. Just pick a random American church to visit. The “root”, as you say of the problem, is that they are terrible people, completely lacking character. They should be disenfranchised, sterilized and have their children taken from them. That’s right. I said it. Democracy can’t work if people that mean and stupid can vote. RFK and Trump are what you get if you don’t have the stomach for stomping on cockroaches. We need a " Great Proletarian Cultural Democratic Revolution" The USA failed at reconstruction and needs to take another crack at it in earnest. Nationalize Palantir. Stamp out the Idiocracy future.

There are a few reports coming in from this thread. I’m open to changing my mind on any of the following, but the reason why I haven’t taken action on a few of the reports is as follows:

I think that it is both valid to question why these people are covering their faces, while also noting that covering your face isn’t “bad” in all cases. The same comment (“if they think they’re right, why hide their faces”) is also used against protestors when they push against the government. Based on the context, I think that’s the point that the other users in this thread wanted to make, but did so poorly. I don’t think those other users are in support of the white nationalists in the post, but rather they picked a bad example.

The difference between the two situations comes down to why the face is covered and what power that serves. Generally:

      • In rallies such as this, the face covering is for intimidation and group identity, and using anonymity to threaten the targeted minority group. It is also intended to hide the person from their community members, because of shame and embarrassment.
      • In protests, the face covering is to avoid retaliation from the authority figures that the person is protesting against. They rarely hide their thoughts and feelings about the matter from their community members.

Again, there is some overlap, but that it is why it’s usually more valid to criticize the former and not the latter.

As for the second argument, I think there is a misunderstanding between ‘human trafficking’ and ‘human smuggling’. Human trafficking is almost always defined as the exploitative practice, where the person being moved is being harmed. Human smuggling can take different forms, but it is not necessarily harming the person being moved. The example of the Underground Railroad and the networks that help refugees and victims escape harm, those would fall under the label of “Human Smuggling”, but the terms are often confused.

So overall I think the issues in this thread come from users making errors, rather than malice, and so I haven’t taken specific moderation actions. But again, open to changing my mind and taking action if more info is brought to light.

Just about the falsest of equivalences that ever false-equivalenced. The Underground Railroad was humans trying to survive unspeakable conditions, it formed spontaneously, out of necessity. Nazism is humans trying to bring back those unspeakable conditions, it forms by choice, out of hatred and fear. The consequence of UR members losing their anonymity was torturous death for themselves and their loved ones, the consequences of these shitstains losing their anonymity is, at most, justified social ostracization. If the world knowing what you really believe means good, reasonable people think you’re a piece of shit, maybe it’s time to reflect on those beliefs, eh?

Two entirely different functions, one of which requires anonymity by default. What a silly comparison.

This is a demonstration not an underground resistance movement. They’re supposed to be proudly demonstrating what they believe.

The point is that the nobility of the event isn’t what defines being hidden or not.

You can find other demonstrations against oppressors that require hiding identity from those oppressors.

Just because you lack the ability to disagree with Nazis on a moral or political basis doesn’t mean empty platitudes should be celebrated.

I don’t really care if the people that think the problem with fascist movements is anonymity don’t know what politics are.

Trafficking people was the only political tool they had to fight against oppression at the time, they weren’t able to lead to a larger change in society so they were reserved to impacting change on an individual level.
