Australia isn’t and should not be one nation. There are dozens of nations on this continent, and one oversized illegal colony.

That’s what you get when you get elected as a left wing govt but don’t actually solve the problems people assumed you would - like wealth inequality, like the cost of living, like the govt’s apparent hard on for Israel, like the gas industry paying no tax. People get fed up and start looking for scapegoats and for any kind of change

Wait but they banned social media for the youth though! Isn’t this winning? Why aren’t the people enamored?

Absolutely true, also true of the UK Labour Party. Both are predominatly centre to centre right with a small rump of soft left-centrists.

Look at their actions not their words

I get that, but they don’t get that far right is always a change for the worse. This knowledge eludes my EU country as well.

The electorate don’t know shit. They just know when someone is offering an actual change (doesn’t matter what change) that will punish someone. Far Right parties say that minorities are taking everything and they will be punished. “Left” parties like Labour (UK/Aus), Liberals (Can) or the Dems have been saying everything is fine and refuse to control billionaires and corporations and just handwave away the material concerns of the voters.

Very telling about how woeful Labor has been that PHON has been able to gain more popularity like this. I wish people would look critically at PHON, though, and realise Hanson has accomplished nothing but division in all her time in politics!

Labour is still predicted to win in an election, this is just a hypothetical “what if we used the American election system”
