I hate capitalism as well, but the things he is saying kinda feels like arguing dynamite is good for mining. It is good at mining, sadly mainly used for evil now. Same for capitalism, used for evil, but not everything about it is negative/evil.
Quasi nothing has purely downsides, it would be disingenuous to say otherwise. ( unless you want to make a strawman argument for e-coli or something)
Honestly his stuff is fucking fantastic. He calmy constructs his case and backs it up with data and sources.

I use proton for a lot of stuff. The calendar is useless IMO since their custom bridge doesn’t support linking anything else in. Same with contacts. For those two I use a self-hosted radicalev3 container, works like a charm.
Does someone have suggestions for what proton provides with its passmail? I think their implementation and usage experience with this entire reverse-email feature is pretty great and I dont want to give this anonymity up, selectively being able to send from those passmails is also a great feature that works really well in the rare case of getting something I need to reply to.

While what he says is broadly correct and I like that he makes it simple and understandable. I would like to add that: Companies aren’t ‘subject’ to this because they are forced by government. Companies actively lobbied for these laws so that they can say ‘the government forces us’ since the lobbying is WAY easier (and behind more closed doors) than actually implementing such a data harvesting tool as a single company.
His wording makes it sound like ‘big brother wants your data’ and while the gov profits immensely from this harvesting as well, the companties primarily got this thing going by lobbying for it, like meta lobbying for verification laws wayyy ahead of this implementation wave we are seeing.
