I dont understand why collabora and libreoffice don’t work together. Why compete? And what is this onlyoffice fork? Why not work with libreoffice instead? There could be a massive effort going into libreoffice but somehow everybody’s going their own way. It makes it so easy for Microslop

Oh they do, they are just regional - for now.

Yep, signing is mandatory, according to the docs. It’s necessary for updating the app. You don’t have to use Google, you can self-sign it.

Codeberg or gitlab as a source forge. Depending on how private you are, you can start a fresh git repository, then your private history won’t be exposed.
Otherwise, a license and gitignore file and you’re done. Maybe a README if you fancy. And if you want to go overboard, add the apk or request for it to be put on F-Droid

That has templates.

Alternatives to the duopoly can’t come fast enough.

If you think creating something means you must maintain it out of a sense of"responsibility", no amount of money can prevent burnout, unless it goes to therapy. For other people, money will definitely prevent burnout.
If I had UBI and could work on anything I like without being forced to work on a specific thing, the most I’d get is choice paralysis, not burnout. That would probably be similar for other devs. It wouldn’t surprise me if a majority would immediately drop their current jobs if they could work on whatever they like and still get paid. Burnout would be rare.

Ban life, it carries the risk of death.

Just write the specs and tests, then let AI implement it, done! It’s valid opensource 😇

Interesting. I’m not a Muslim so I’m asking out of curiosity: upon what basis would proprietary software be haram? Is there some verse that could be interpreted that way?

I stand corrected. Luckily 👍

People still won’t leave 🤷
About Fennec? That’s also Firefox.
Also ironfox has its own fdroid repo. They aren’t in the official store.

I think of it as fighting fire with fire and using their tools against them. Just do it with every Microslop product or of any AI company. Turn their weapons against them.

The reverse can be done. Let an AI write specs about a closed source product, then let another AI implement an opensource solution that follows the spec. TADA!
Do it. I can’t wait for it.

Paradoxically, if you want to start a conversation with someone you can’t meet in person, you have to use another communication tool to forward/receive a QR invitation to open a new chat. And this is the same flaw that Session has.
This is the problem all messengers have that do not use some external ID like email or phone numbers. You first have to communicate over another channel to get started on that new app, unless of course you are physically present. Most people will do that over an insecure channel thus linking them to the account.
So much for “better privacy”.
Uh… do I need to see the code of Microslop Office to observe its behavior?
