I was making a joke about how the email was dated back in August 2025, and how it’s being posted now (for April Fool’s Day). The comparison being that the email talked about waiting on IPv6 adoption since 1998.

But you’re right that using IPv4 locally makes sense. Ain’t no way I’m trying to remember a 128-bit address.

As someone with violent celiacs disease, i can appreciate the allure of something that could cure or alleviate a genuine gluten allergy. It would be absolutely amazing if it were to ever happen.

People need to chill with the language fanaticism. It’s one thing to make jokes and rip on a language for its quirks, but at the end of the day it’s just a language. If you truly don’t like it, don’t use it. I’m going to take a stab and guess that there is enough Linux kernel source to go around to both the c devs and rust devs. Just be glad they’re not trying to rewrite it in JavaScript. 😉
