107·6 days agoQuite fear mongering and not very educative. Throws around a lot of terms whose meanings are not explained, nor are there links to further descriptions. This doesn’t help people who need to know about this stuff. If you already know about this stuff, it doesn’t really add any value.

2·7 days agoEverything everybody else has already said. Also, check out my previous post.
Keep in mind: no port forwarding, wireguard only
I have only every used Mullvad. Never looked back. Have their app on my parents’ computers and my phone. Also running an OpenWRT router bound to one of their servers.

14·13 days agoI agree. People that lack the technical expertise or rooting compatible devices shouldn’t be forced to even consider this. Once you have paid for a device, you should be allowed to do with it whatever the hell you want, without Google or other big tech shoving unsolicited policies down your throat.

19·13 days agoYou’re right. At the very least, users shouldn’t be forced to make this choice. It’s absurd how little authority we have over devices we have paid for with our hard earned money. :(

121·13 days agoAre there people who are angry out of principle/ideologically but who don’t do sideloading etc? Because, I’d like to think that if you are angry enough at this, then you have the incentive and the will to root you phone (making it an unsupported device and making it NOT locked for sideloading) and go on with your life. I wish Google died like… Yesterday. Don’t get me wrong. Am I missing something?

I accidentally purchased their most expensive plan, which I didn’t need, and it took one mail and a few minutes for them to downgrade my plan and refund the difference. :D

6·14 days agoI agree though! The spring semester has had some awful “bumps”. Amazingly though, I only experienced it on the app. Didn’t seem to affect my Mullvad OpenWRT router. Which is even weirder, since it’s bound to a single node all the time. 🤔
I’d use ivpn for sure if I wasn’t with Mullvad! 😊

11·17 days agoI’m really not deep enough into that culture to understand what you mean. Either that, or it’s that I’m a non native speaker? 😅 Please explain. 🙏 Is it not just a nerdy way of saying “making a Linux desktop environment look fancy”?

2·17 days agoYeah, it’s pretty sweet! There’s even a whole sub over at Reddit. But be warned: I once asked politely why they insist on ricing their termux instances - expecting some sincere replies - and I got bullied out of there faster than the Millennium Falcon did the Kessel Run…

I remember hearing that the Copy Fail exploit doesn’t work on Android because of SELinux restrictions.
