I thought we’d have moved past that by now, but I guess their readers haven’t been exposed to pop culture in decades then. Don’t worry, I’m sure being harsher on trans and gender-nonconforming people will improve the situation! That will definitely help with girls and women feeling like they have to dress and act in certain ways to avoid unwanted behaviour!

Fuck’s sake this sucks. I hope Labour’s plan actually addresses some of the issues raised, but I do genuinely worry any gains will be offset by all the other negative trends in the country right now… And that’s before considering Reform potentially gaining power. Urgh.

“not a British citizen” sounds like it includes people with indefinite leave to remain/any level of settled status. Meaning people who have lived here a long time, and were not here illegally at any point. I personally don’t care about the last point, and I think we should support refugees too, but that’s where the negative connotations will come from. But regardless: it sounds like this will include people who could be citizens (perhaps if it didn’t cost 1.7k).

So really, does this say anything?

Yeah. I’d argue nurses are often underappreciated and likely underpaid for the work they do. Often they also notice a lot of illnesses or changes in condition earlier than doctors, and that can be fairly accurate from medical experience or studying.

That said there is a reason doctor and nurse are different names and separate jobs. Maybe we should be looking more at why there is a lack of them rather than trying to find substitutes.
