So this post got me curious to the etymology of the term. And from what I’ve been able to discern, the term seems to in fact originate from gaming.
I mean, obviously the tactic pre-dates recorded history. But ‘kiting’, in regards to the term itself, doesn’t seem to be a thing before video games.
This is exactly why you shouldn’t film a TikTok while overly emotional and driving.
I mean, there are plenty of good reasons not to “film a TikTok”, but I’m pretty confident this particular TikTok really highlights one over the rest.

I would refer you to just one paragraph earlier, where they state:

By their own admission, they are doing this for fun.
To add to that, the quote you used goes on to jokingly say:

Seems to me like they weren’t trying to defend themselves. Rather they were trying to emphasize how strongly they disdain letting AI take the fun out of coding by way of sarcasm.
