Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Spotify reportedly plans up to 39% price increase in big AI push
3·19 hours agoExactly, I would have thought you might have some AI only free/cheaper tier. At least that kinda makes sense as a use case, not that I could see myself ever paying for it

8·19 hours agoWhy would you pay for AI generated music, surely that has less value to people?
Like I don’t even totally hate the existence of AI generated music. But it isn’t worth anything to me. I can prompt it in seconds. If I wanted some kind of background music generator it would work for that, but I don’t see how that is worth any non zero amount of money.

1·1 day agoLooks like my dehumidifier will be running in air filter mode more often over summer.
I should install Debian to replace my current Ubuntu install at some point. Might move some services I run to a VM to reduce effort when reinstalling my OS. Then it’s just install steam and copy over my game backup folders. Plus with a VM I can easily move it to a proxmox mini PC if I ever get round to buying one.

1·1 day agoYou can let others use your hardware and in return get higher priority to use others. Want to generate 20 images? Its quicker spread across several other peoples GPUs at the same time with the same prompt.
Not poked AI stuff in a while though, it was interesting from a technical perspective but overall not super useful to me.

4·2 days agoThen wtf is the point of moving to London? I know someone obsessed with it and yet they never seem to find jobs that pay much more than everyone else is on. +£150 a month pay, -£600 car, fuel, maintenance? Lol ok.

2·2 days agoBut we do own RAM, do they plan to buy all of it indefinitely? All sorts of other businesses still need computers so they will be buying them even if they cost more, and when they replace them the old ones can be sold off.
There is even the possibility of crowd sourced AI, I know AI horde exists although I think its pretty small and I haven’t touched it in a few years now.

3·2 days agoThey have but the other components don’t cost much in comparison. You are pretty much buying memory and it happens to have a completed system attached.
Pi zero is still pretty cheap though. 512MB of memory should help keep that affordable.

I could see something like /20 being useful not so much for the number of addresses but to group things by use case, then /8 because you don’t care and it doesn’t matter. Also 10.0 is quicker to type and cleaner to look at than 192.168
