I also used to prefer macOS over Windows, but now macOS is also utter shit, especially with Liquid Ass update.
So now Linux is the only good operating system.

It’s not enough. You should use a different writing style for each website you write on.

I’m not a lawyer, but I’m pretty sure they don’t follow the GDPR (and I don’t think it would even be possible given the federated nature).

You don’t need to take remote places like DPRK. Trust me, most Lemmy instances don’t follow the laws of 27 European Union countries.

I’m on a Google Pixel 9A.
But at least I didn’t pay for it, Google paid me, thanks to a clever mix of a big 9A launch discount, a trade-in discount and the fact that the older Pixel I traded in had already been partially refunded because of the infamous battery problems.

Me too. I’ve always bought Google Pixels but I don’t want to give Google my money anymore.
So I’ll probably buy a Motorola if this deal gets through.
If you want to go on the restic route, you can try BackRest: it’s a web interface for restic with graphs and all.
Why would you use SSDs for backup? I think a HDD should be fine for that.
Especially because SSDs start losing data is they’re powered off for some time.
I also use Hetzner, but with restic (through the web interface BackRest) instead of borg.
Is restic fine? Or should I migrate to Borg?
+1 for Hetzner Storage Boxes, even thought with the general increase in pricing for hardware I don’t know how long they’ll be able to keep them so cheap.
To back up the data automatically, I use BackRest (it’s a nice web interface that uses restic under the hood).

You can’t use the $99/year plan for that. The authorized client only works as a desktop application on Windows and MacOS.

I mean, there’s even a website (don’t remember the name) that lets you upload a photo of a person and it will show all pictures of that person that are on the web.
Like a Google search but for your face. Super creepy.

Exactly. It’s important that we stop saying “sideloading”, we should just say “install directly” or some other non-loaded expressions

You could, if you lived in the EU :)

She had a Telegram bot to control it remotely.
But she kept saying stupid things to the bot (like “nooo stop openclaw!” instead of just “stop”) and the bot kept doing random stuff.

I think it’s still cheaper than AWS et similia.
Plus, it’s an European company. Win win.

I have bad news for you.
Netcup is just a reseller of Hetzner servers. They canceled the promotion week that should have started today, and they’re probably going to increase prices too.
Yes, I wish they would ban Tesla cars in Europe. That would be amazing.
