As someone who rarely programs anything, and who hasn’t touched assembly for over 40 years, that was a great read and a fascinating (math) journey.

I must be jaded because an opening/closing animation as “innovative” makes me want to puke. If the matte screen holds up to 2000 sheets of writing using a stylus, that’s more interesting.
As for usability, I desperately want to combine my note taking device, my ereader, and my phone (comms/camera). I have an eink device, but I don’t find the reflective display worth carrying a second device, usually. After trying out the News+ feature on my iPad for a month I was addicted, but my phone is too small for comfortable long-form reading. And I take a LOT of pen notes on my 12” tablet but, again, it’s another device to lug around. Sometimes I need that screen real estate to draw but often I can get by with an A6 notepad for what I need. The only think keeping me from throwing (more) money at Apple is knowing this is a Gen 1 device and it’s better to have others find the early flaws and work through the bugs.
Don’t bother unless your burner phone OS writes random data over deleted files. Otherwise you’ll give a phone full of your csa images to border patrol with a file table that reveals they exist with the most trivial inspection.

“…it’s hypocritical of us to give intelligent beings like AI “fewer rights than us.” And for that, we must quickly atone.”
Uh…so his solution is to accept our new overlords. Right.

And no living creature can abide that kind of penalty - it’s inhuman. Which is why the whole judgement must be thrown out as cruel and unusual punishment that violates the 8th amendment to the US constitution. Remember - corporations are people, too. 🥺

Interesting that the headline doesn’t say “Germany health and service sector adds 2.2 million jobs, outstripping losses in automotive and machining by over 4 to 1”

So…like AI song generation adding Jason Derulo’s tag in generated music because it scraped his music and mistook him singing his own name for “musical content.”

If you’re dark at 4 pm, then you’re only getting 8 hours of sunlight. Someone is going to be getting up in the dark, getting home from work in the dark, or both if your employer manages to time your particular work day just right.
What you need is “Personal Daylight Time" or PDT. See, we just need to put an abstraction layer between the icky science of the earth rotating and the sun being overhead at a particular time each day, which can be terribly annoying for those who talked through science class in 3rd grade.
Everyone who wants something other than “Standard” time just puts the times they’d like the sun to rise and set each day. The app then maps those times to the local sunrise and sunset. When you get your work schedule or dinner reservation, the app converts from the (completely unreadable) standard time based on your location on earth to your personal time which you feel maximizes your personal enjoyment. Likewise, you can send an invite in your time, and the recipient will see it in their time.
It’s just like having Google Calendar manage times zones for you when you have a distant Zoom call. Simple, no?
*Note: you will experience faster or slower personal seconds throughout the day depending on your preferred sunrise and sunset days, and it will vary by day.

We should do the negative leap hour now, but do it right after completion of the US law moving everyone to permanent DST. Win - win.
Someone needs to backronym HENRY (or HENRI/HENREE) for this. The closest I can get is High-capacity Exo-atmospheric Nonballastic Recovery Instrument.
If you can change the school schedule to accommodate DST shortcomings, you can change the school schedule to accommodate Standard Time. It’s all an abstraction anyway. Want more time outside in the sun? Get a job in the early shift or the night shift. Or ask your employer to have seasonal hours to allow for more time after work.
The crux is that the earths axis is tilted and you’ll be cheated out of light no matter how you slice it. With 8 or fewer daylight hours in the day you’re exceptionally likely to miss all of the sunshine in any 7-4/8-5/9-6 job. Shifting the clock either way will always fuck it up for somebody. Time is just a way to say, with some margin of error, that the sun is overhead (or on the opposite side of the earth from you) at a “zero” point.
Asking politicians to “fix” your personal dislike of your employers hours or your preferred sleep schedule is selfish and/or lazy*.
