Thanks for the link

For what it’s worth, I’m kind of with you. Kurzgesagt and other pop science channels don’t lead viewers to nuanced positions and the point is just to make people feel like they learned something.
I do feel like you’re missing that it’s important to make people feel like they can learn, and that’s the role that Kurzgesagt plays. Some people will get stuck there, and that’s a problem in itself, but it’s really important to have these “Level 1” avenues for learning about science that will make people more interested.

I tried to find the video but I can’t. It might have been taken down in the aftermath but searching for it pulls up all the latest drama as well…
As I recall, Kurzgesagt got called out for plagiarizing a smaller channel by that smaller channel. It turned out that that channel had fact-checked an out of date video and made their own video calling Kurzgesagt out. Kurzgesagt then made a video correcting their previous video and explaining why errors were made, without mentioning the other channel.
It blew over, nobody cared, and the other channel showed their ass a bit and lost the court of public opinion.

Learned my lesson last time someone tried to call out Kurzgesagt. Not worth the time imo

I got a pixel because I heard I can install Graphene OS on it and when I got it I couldn’t enable OEM unlocking. We’re being cornered.

That is exactly how this company is worth billions of dollars.

The article says they’ve filled the same amount as the DoT does in a week, so it’s 7x the normal rate.
With regards to money, I doubt that the cost of fast-tracking a week’s worth of potholes is really indicative of their handling of money. It was done to show people they can get things done for them.
