The back looks ugly. Why so many stupid lenses? A phone should have no more than two.

There’s a lot of things humans would have been better off without, technologically.
24/7 News Cycle. 24/7 Social Media. Social Media in general. Smartphones.

Google over there wanting selfies and your street address.
No, I think an email and a password is about as far as you’re going to get.

The problem about AI right now is multi-pronged.
But the main key problems are;
It’s costing people’s jobs. In a way, this is of no surprise because before AI, there were shitty bosses and CEOs. They were always there and they will always find any excuse, if any, to release you from your job. AI only merely accelerated it.
Data Centers/AI Plants take too much water. I like how people conveniently forget today, how much water companies like Coca-Cola and Nestle actually take while turning around, bottling said water, just to sell it back to you. And if anyone has watched How It’s Made, you can find arguments everywhere in that series, about how much resources are taken to make everything we use.
My point is, is a lot of arguments that people bring up against AI, there’s such a wedge of counter-arguments in them that negate the problem of AI itself. It’s just demonized because people are disappointed that AI isn’t magically fixing roads and potholes, I guess, I don’t know. Society doesn’t know what they truly want anymore out of anything, it’s just the feeling in the moment of the current ‘I want said thing’ dominates their mindsets.
But the actual problem with AI shocks no one - shitty CEOs.

Facebook has no intention of doing…anything about its issues.
For instance, I’ve tried reporting ads and everytime I clicked on ‘report ad’ guess what? It throws an error and I’m informed it’ll be fixed ‘very soon’. Well, that ‘very soon’ mind as well be ‘eternally soon’ because it never will be fixed.

As long as nobody is being like a personalized salesman of AI and getting it in everyone’s face, I think it’s okay. I still find AI as a useful tool. But I also don’t see AI as an everything-solve-all kind of tool. It has its limits and I’ve seen them by experience.

And people over in Reddit and tech-illiterate people recommend this garbage?

It was poorly worded because he was meant to target a specific portion of something about antitrust. What he ended up doing is blatantly supporting something a Republican brought up. I guess he couldn’t have found someone within spitting distance that wasn’t Republican and also supported antitrust. Don’t know how, but that’s how short-sighted Andy is.

Say and do stupid shit, get stupid prizes.
Proton’s reputation has been getting shaky. First it was the poorly worded communication regarding support for Republicans. Then the privacy in question when they handed user’s data over to authorities. Now this.
How’s that for loser thinking, Andy?

Yeah because they’re clinging to what they thought was a world in its last sanest place to them before overzealous CEOs were preaching the choir of AI and how it’ll solve everything. It’s easy for them to say and do the shit they do because they have no worry, the worst that can happen is the AI bubble popping, if ever. Even if it does, they’re still well off because of how much they pocketed by overpromising.
Everyone else got to watch what was once their dreams, be dashed at that cost.

Email is something we simply cannot live without. They are primary sources of communication to reach you like account notifications, what accounts you’ve registered with it and vice versa.

GMail is not that easy. Because, there are places and services that use e-mail clients that are easy to be sent to and received by GMail. I’ve experienced this with ProtonMail for a while, where there’ll be services and individuals that could not reach me through my Proton e-mail and I’ve had difficulty reaching out to them.

I’ll continue to use ProtonMail myself. But, I can’t in good conscience feel in reason to support this company with my money and I’m especially concerned with relying on ProtonVPN so that will be getting uninstalled.
This is just not how you win people over and I’m tired of this day and age in tech where companies like this, pad their PR up with promises then do a 180 on their attitude towards everyone who uses their products that makes everyone second guess them. It’s bad enough we have things like Discord who has spent a couple years, making themselves look good and cozy for the public market that have alienated its userbase.
Bluesky showing their true colors and then we have this asshole CEO on Proton taking a dump whenever he pleases on the values of why we bothered using Proton in the first place.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman
Why would he hold such an opinion? Man, CEOs continue proving how little they actually contribute to the best interests of the world.

Much harder to powertrip you say? Have you looked in the modlogs and see how moderators ban users in multiple instances that is unrelated to the original instance? It’s very reddit like.

Mastodon dodged a bullet though. It could’ve been them.

Good, because that damn thing is in the way. It’s just another block that is stacked on another block with another block. Just searching on Google is abysmally horrible in every way.

Vimm’s Lair but be aware, downloads will slow to a crawl because it’s one of those donation sites that will only let you download full speed if you pay.
Well, here’s another angle.
Kids are going to chatbots because they probably have parents that don’t give a shit about them. And kids could lack people in their lives that care at all about their problems. So, who are they going to turn to? They’re going to turn to things that will actually listen to them.
That’s something you have to think about here. We wouldn’t need AI or Chatbots at all, if we had more people who truly care. But now that they’re here, a troubled teen or a kid is going to make that choice.
It’s no different than the days before AI Chatbots, where they were online all the time because their real lives were underwhelming.
