If you look through the replies they seem to be engaging pretty sincerely with peoples concerns to me, and explicitly say there are pros and cons even to careful intentional use.

I don’t lose a lot of respect for them for the way they’re handling the issue in that thread, at least for the moment. But thats just me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah, tutanota isn’t that. Personally that works better for me but I can understand feeling like nothing is a drop in replacement

Why is pgp so important? To be honest I dont really use it for the encryption, I just dont want my data being collected and sold. But thats just my use-case

Ive been pretty happily using tuta for email and bitwarden for passwords.

As best I know nothing has happened to make me regret going with tuta, which is nice. It just handles my email

In really disappointed it won’t email all my data to Microsoft via whatever publicly accessible email accounts they have available.

Maybe in a future update. For now I’ll just have to stick to manually giving a random Microsoft customer service rep all my data 😮‍💨

People who find computers useful should be using computers.

This weird idea from some linux users that only people who see their computer as a hobby and have mastery over them should be allowed to use them, and that computers should be designed exclusively around the needs of computer-as-hobby users, is absolutely nuts.

Its a tool. It should be designed to be useful as possible to anyone who needs such a tool.

Another linux user who cares about UI/UX and is tired of this kind of junk. It’s a dumb argument, let’s all stop making it please. Linux supports all your “technical user” wildest dreams, let the average people have their features and design considerations too.

Personally I don’t, I kinda hate old skeuomorphism 😅

Neo skeuomorphism has some neat novelty though.

Edit: this is just my personal aesthetic preference, I don’t begrudge anyone their love of skeuomorphism, or nostalgia for it.
