If someone could decompile the Tabula Rasa server that’d be nice. It wasn’t an amazing game but I’m still pissed I bought it and 3 months later it shut down.

I could also probably name a dozen or so games that cut off support way too early and are just unplayable from bugs.

The biggest problem I see is that it requires OS or browser integration. While possibly a better solution than simple passwords this feels like a vendor lock-in scheme.

I think the bigger problem is a potential for a loss of morale. We’re getting to the point where engineers can do more with less effort but it’s also less rewarding. I haven’t been this sad about doing my job in 8 years.

My guess would be the deterministic configuration management. If it’s for a personal machine then do what you want to make it your own but if it’s an organization (e.g. government) you want the machines to be as similar as possible to reduce maintenance. Think cattle, not pets.

We have way fewer consumer and worker safeguards, not to mention seemingly unrestricted political ads. All the use of AI to imitate political candidates has been very dystopian.
