I hate LLM’s as much as the next guy, but em-dashes are legitimate literary tools. They happen to appear in slop so much because they appear in their training data and that is because they are a staple in writing. Don’t let LLM’s ruin literacy any further than it has.
People rightly got upset and moved services when Yen spouted his authoritarian fascist nonsense. Those who didn’t weren’t “Proton apologists”, they were right leaning or centralist’s (read as: “bUt BotH sIdEs”) who also happened to take privacy and security seriously. They weren’t defending Proton really, they were defending “one of their own”. Personal I’d like to see Yen immediately removed from the company and Iay return to proton.
It was more the overall tone of the comments than the words themselves. But that could be an anchoring bias based on your "I’m always amazed " comment that comes across as belittling those who choose to continue to use their Plex service.

Why are you perplexed people will still use something they paid $10 for a decade ago that still works for exactly what they need? Sure, don’t start with it now, but why stop if there isn’t anything wrong with how they need to using it? This is going to sound instigating but I truly would like to understand, what drives you to make multiple comments on a subject with no impact on your life what-so-ever just to put people down?
Oh definitely don’t. Reddit can suck my asshole. Reddit 100% uses LLM’s to flag these post so it isn’t surprising they use it to write the reply. I’m more saying in general take in the writing as a whole then judge it’s validity before just assuming em dash equals LLM’s.
