    The Cable column in the first table, is that the maximum length for them… at that speed? Or what does it mean?

      That’s the max allowed cable length by the standard, so you can’t have an e.g. 2m long 20Gbps cable.

      Somebody will gladly sell you one of course, but no guarantees it’ll work.

        Yeah back in the day dvi had a 5m length limit and we got some cables that could go I think it was 10m by using silver that was real expensive. Later we had these dvi to fiber devices.
