Long term leaders never have good ratings. I have heard the French hate him for more than a decade, and yet, there he is.
I can’t say much for him but that he’s right about this topic.
This is because France is a flawed democracy.
Just to be clear, France president is elected through a two round voting system. Macron (and billionaire friends) pushed the far-right forward, to be him vs fash on the second round, making it easy to win. Macron had less than 30% of support from voters (with 1/2 the population not voting), in an approximate split in thirds: neolibs / radical left / fascists.
Sounds like every democracy. Sometimes we have to vote for the lesser evil.

Yes Europe has to wake up against the United states not only Trump’s United States that is my issue and they are already united against Russia . Israel influence is also destroying the middle east and harming Ukraine by prioritizing defending Israel colonial ambitions. Imagine how better Europe would be if it ditched the USA decades ago and replied on itself for security against Russia

As a non-european, I’d like to see european resistance to the fascist forces of the US and Russia.
The major European benefited from American war of aggressions over the decades which their big corporations making money from Iraq and Libya. They only start criticizing Trump once he started threating Greenland and monopolizing imperialist benefits . The biggest threat right now is Israel wanting to destoy a whole region and France is profiting from the antisemite attacks to pass laws limiting anti Israel colonialism and genocide actions

It’s getting ditched from being subject to a vote. It’s looking like they’re trying to use “this one weird trick that the constitution allows as a tool of democracy” to move this to a closed, limited vote, that is expected to pass in complete silence without parliament being allowed to discuss it.
Or anyway that’s the alarmist short of it and it might fall off after all, but we really shouldn’t just presume that it’s done and resolved just because we won’t hear about it again.
