Why just Seattle? I would assume they get even worse treatment elsewhere in the US.

Emails seeking more information and comment were sent Thursday to spokespersons for the federal agency, the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., and its consulate in San Francisco.

Unfortunately there aren’t many details - hopefully there’s a followup about the claim Chinese academics have a history of being harassed in seattle, that needs expanding on if it’s a pattern. Huge number of Chinese academics come thru there.
