A 15-year-old student has had their hand blown off after picking up a stun grenade being used by police as mass school protests continue across France, local authorities said.

The incident comes as nearly 500 schools are expected to be completely or partially closed following student protests across the country over dilapidated schools and classrooms, overcrowding and teacher shortages preceding a nationwide day of demonstrations on Tuesday.

So, this is fucking terrible. Obviously no one wants this, probably not even the cop.

    But…

Look at that badass French kid and worship them because the French NEVER fail to show the world how a fucking protest is done.

    Vive la France! 🇫🇷

      probably not even the cop.

I doubt that very much. This happens all the time and nothing is being done about it. I think 3 teenagers are blind in one eye already as well.

So, witnesses to the event say nobody picked it up, it just hit him that way and discharged facing his hand.

“They began using tear gas on us but we hadn’t done anything wrong,” says one high schooler. “I was standing next to a friend when all of the sudden something hit his hand and exploded. I saw his hand exoloded,” says another. “It was very shocking. I nearly vomitted.”

The same article says they haven’t officially determined if the student picked it up.
