We have fines and demerit points where I live, but they don’t seem to be enforced often. Our cops are too busy…uh, I don’t actually even know, but we sure pay them a lot (as an organization). Traffic enforcement seems to have gone down quite significantly in the past few years.
Wouldn’t advise them to do that if they rent a car in Norway. The fine is about $1100 if they’re caught, plus three points on the license.
