Well I harken back to my father teaching me to drive, and the little nugget of wisdom that has saved my life in traffic multiple times over the last 25 years on the road and in the air: It’s better to be alive than right.

People are going to cut you off, they’re gonna break traffic patterns, they’re gonna drive the wrong way up the road, they’re gonna drive drunk while doing lines of cocaine off the ass of the prostitute they’re murdering, and you can list all the crimes you saw them do to the ER staff as they try to stop the bleeding around the steering column sticking out of your chest. You have a duty to yourself to steer around the jackasses.

It looks for all the world to me that Bikey Mikey is pulling some Karen-esque move blocking traffic to assert a cyclist’s right of way or some shit. He might have gone on a bike ride tomorrow if he’d just pedaled away. He had a chance to de-escalate the situation, which he didn’t take. So he took a street to the dome. That guy’s going to prison, that guy’s going on a respirator. Was whatever point he was making…worth it?

I get the feeling he chose to incite the incident. He chose to be in the way, he chose to stay in the way. I don’t give the first two half-flaccid thrusts of a reluctant pity fuck if he deserved to have his skull caved in, it wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t incited the incident.

Even if the cyclist was the most dumb or annoying person in the world… So what? Smashing someone’s head in because they are annoying is in no way an appropriate response to anything outside of a life threatening situation. Nobody should ever expect to have their head smashed in over an argument. What’s next? Stabbing kids because they were making annoying noises? I mean everybody knows it is common decency to not make annoying noises. They made annoying noises, so they were asking for it.

it wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t incited the incident.

Your logic applies just as well to the car driver, and he could just as well have ended up on the pavement. Was whatever point he was trying to make worth it? I think it’s flawed to see this interaction and think about what the victim could have done differently, but at the very least, don’t make it sound like he was the only one that “incited the incident”.

So assume he had the right of passage and wanted to exercise this despite seeing the car coming. You call this “inciting an incident” and then not letting the car pass “karenesque”? This is called victim blaming and usually is done by people who already have prejudices against one of the parties (and you strongly seem to have one). Goes along the same lines as “if she didn’t want to get sexually assaulted why did she wear a skirt”.

In what other circumstance is a man going to be standing on a bike in traffic long enough for a woman to get out of the car to start fussing at him?

I do not give a FUCKSHIT about “victim blaming.” Look, two guys in a bar. They bump into each other, some beer is spilled. Guy 1 starts getting up in Guy 2’s face yelling “YEAH? WHATCHA GONNA DO? WHATCHA GONNA DO?” Guy 2 slams Guy 1’s head into a table so hard he never walks, speaks or sees in color ever again. I can have no fucking sympathy for Guy 1. I don’t care if his “punishment” fits his “crime.”

Being a victim of a crime does not make one innocent.

Being a victim does not make one innocent, but being in an argument does not make one guilty.

I know you probably aren’t, but the way you’ve talked here makes you sound like the exact sort of person as the assaulter in the video. Someone who thinks abrupt violence is a justified way to handle an argument.

Man, I saw people pistol whipped over toilet paper. The fact that what that dude did was illegal isn’t going to make your stay at the ER any more comfy. Don’t push people’s buttons.

Way to blame the victim bub. You want a perfect victim? That doesn’t exist. You really need to check you moral compass

My moral compass points to “don’t pick fights, you might get beaten up” but go the fuck off.

What were the circumstances that led to the first frame of the video?

What the fuck does rape have to do with this? Why are you so fixated on rape? Are you a rapist? Should I address you as senator? Do we need to look through your browser history?

Before the video starts, probably by a few minutes, we get into this situation where a car and a bike are sitting in traffic. This has apparently been going on long enough for the female passenger of the car to get out and start talking to the biker. She’s gesturing broadly in the direction the bike is pointing so gather she’s saying whatever translates out of Scot’s incomprehensibabble into “get out of the way”. Then the driver of the car gets out, grabs the biker by the throat and slams him to the pavement.

The driver of the car committed a felony. Committing that felony is his own fault.

For the likely several minutes he was sitting on his bike, stationary in traffic, the cyclist could have ridden away, continued with his bike ride, escape a dangerous situation. For whatever reason he decided not to do that, and now he’s got a fractured skull.

Did he deserve a fractured skull? NaN. Deserve doesn’t factor into it, car driver slammy man isn’t a judge or jury, there’s no “deserve” here. The law isn’t about preventing bad things from happening, the law is about systematically hurting more people after the fact. That’s all it does, that’s all it can do. The law didn’t stop the driver from choke slamming the cyclist. The law is not plot armor.

I notice the cyclist is also not wearing a helmet. Going for a bike ride without a helmet on is a risky activity. He could have fallen down and hit his head, which could have resulted in a skull fracture and blood on the brain causing permanent damage to his nervous system. If he had just fallen, as cyclists do all the time, did he “deserve” it? Is a fractured skull the legal punishment for riding a bike without a helmet? No, but that’s what you get. Now, while you’re engaged in the wholesome family activity of riding your bike without a helmet, does standing in the street blocking automobile traffic increase, or decrease your level of personal risk? I didn’t ask “SHOULD standing in the street…” I asked “DOES standing in the street…” I know which one you’ll answer though.

What did you think I was talking about with the quotes? A lot of people in the world blame the rape victims for their rape by saying things very similar to what you say. “They shouldn’t have been there, they shouldn’t have done that” etc…

Rapist mentality. You have a rapist mentality. I’m not saying you’re a rapist, just that you’d blame a rape victim for their rape.

I’m under no obligation to answer your fucking questions.
