I think that with the American, we are in business. Normally I mean: when the GOV there make sense.

Some of the software dependence can be easily remedied. You could use AI to improve open source software, and establish an Ai generated hacker that scan software code before it is posted at places like github… This could solve some issues concerning many open source software. It is the safety and lack of traceable legal accountability that make some not use these software. Now it can be remedied, at least in part, by improving safety through automated Ai scans of the code. The hardware dependence is the real problem, and that is very complicated.

There once was a business with a problem.

“I know,” the CEO said. “I’ll force my employees to use AI to solve the problem.”

Now the business has four quintillion, three hundred and nine quadrillion, two hundred and thirty-three trillion, eight hundred and two billion, three hundred and twenty-one million, three hundred and eighty thousand, one hundred and ninety-eight problems.

WTF are you talking about? Open source does not make it less secure. What hardware dependence Windows runs on anything doesn’t seem to be a problem as it is the most popular OS.

Just to be clear, you’re equally likely to successfully sue a random github user than to sue Microsoft for a security vulnerability.

It cannot replace any absent legal entity, that is true, but it can lower the risk for end users and increase quality of distributed software. (to Auli, I thought replied to me, I am sorry.)

The fuck are you talking about? We already know this. And up until the past few years, it was a non-issue. And for most large companies, disentangling from US tech ranges from difficult to impossible. No one was ever expecting it to happen instantly.

The first step in disentangling is actually not that hard.

        Switch. Email. Providers.

I’ve been in a medium-sized business (about 500 people) who did that. The switch took a weekend, and managing the glitches that happened afterward took probably an extra two weeks.

The next one isn’t that hard either.

        Switch. Web site. Host.

Same business did that as well. That literally took a weekend without glitching later.

With those two alone that’s a major chunk of a business’ exposure to America tech firms (and thus American government retribution) gone.

Canadian servers don’t have the capacity to take on this burden unless we build.new.datacentres.

It was always and issue we just choose to ignore it. Why should our government email be accessible to Americans. America has the best spy network and it is just their software used by all the governments.

It was an issue 20 years ago, it was an issue 10 years ago, and it was an issue 5 years ago.

Don’t believe the American lies that we used to be friends.

I’ve been consulting the CDN government about scientific and clinical trial data security concerns since 2008. Every government just kicks the ball forward and uses US tech because they pinky promise to not spy or steal the data.

They aren’t naive, they were using US tech. As time goes by, that will change. If they never leave…. We’ll, that’s naivety.

The West. Think how dependent the west is on American tech. If America sanctioned a western country they would be screwed.

Canada would be stronger if it was more independent from the USA. Let’s be like Ireland and Uruguay.
