An alarming amount of people think politics are like sports; you pick a team, cheer when they win, boo when they lose, go home and forget about it until the next tournament.
They forget that lives are at stake. People die. Its real. Just because you in particular have enough privileges to not care doesnt mean others do too.
You forgot the most important part of political sports: never admit your team fucked up no matter what. That’s the common point I see both with MAGA and tankies.
Even that is a delusional attitude, unless you’re a 1%er you’re still getting fucked by politics, it’s just not quite as obvious and urgent.
Those benefit from the delusional attitude. If the people don’t get involved, this has no chance to change. Building opinions, sharing them and voting is just the minimum to expect from a democracy citizen. Democracy is a constant struggle, not a stable situation.
GAS PRICES ARE TOOO HIGH, CHAIRMAN TRUMP! I FEEL BETRAYED!

Why is my [insert anything] too political these days‽ Since when is [insert anything] woke‽

I still deal this particular cognitive dissonance when engaging with folks that think politician actions are political, but not your right to speak🙄. Silence is also a right, plead it.
If you’re not in an organization, you don’t do politics, you simply have some opinions.
Nice internet access you have there.
Wouldn’t it be a shame if your opinions disappeared⸮I don’t care. I just really do not care.
I am a monkey in a rock flying through an infinite void that will go on for eternity and nobody is quite sure why we are here.
None of it matters. It never has and never will.
Spend your time being nice to others, and maybe you’ll lighten their day enough for it to dissipate onto even more.
Ah yes, the illusion of choice.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Just be nice to people.
I tend to find that most “non political” people are actually just not comfortable sharing their views right now. Especially if they sense it would cause a disagreement. It takes a lot of courage to say what you truly believe, especially if it goes against the flow.
Wow. I guess that covers it.
