As alarm grows across Europe about growing Russian aggression towards NATO countries, Canada’s ambassador-designate to the European Union says Canada is right to be concerned because of its stake in the continent’s defence and security.
“Canada is an ally through NATO and increasingly working with the European Union, and obviously we have a strong stake in this as well,” Jonathan Wilkinson said in an interview with CTV Question Period airing Sunday. “We have soldiers in Latvia and a commitment under NATO to be part of the response if in fact there was a challenge.”
“So, I mean, we’re all concerned, and it’s important for us to act together to deter the Russians,” Wilkinson also told host Vassy Kapelos.
NATO’s Article 5 outlines the principle of collective defence and asserts that an attack on one member is considered an attack on all members.
Worry about Russia’s actions have been growing amongst Canada’s allies in Europe.
…
“I think we should all be concerned,” Wilkinson said, when asked by Kapelos about his level of worry at the prospect of potentially imminent Russian action. “I mean, some of the recent activities in Leipzig and elsewhere have shown the Russians are willing to actually do things that previously we would not have thought they would have done.”
“Europeans take this very, very seriously, and they should,” Wilkinson added. “It’s on their doorstep.”

Have they finally presented proof? The strongest proof I know is the word of a German intelligence service, which shouldn’t be trusted too much after the Iraq war.
I mean, there are the drones, the military-grade explosives, the suspects (some of which I believe have been caught since), the other inteligence services that warned the German one and last but not least zero incentive for Germany to lie about this…?
I mean, we’re already quadroupling our military budget and turning our intelligence agencies into proper secret services. People are afraid of war already. The industry and some parts of the population would rather see the relationship with Russia improve again. The incident made us look pretty incompetent. We are already the single largest supporter of Ukraine. Why would Germany or anyone else stage this and make it look like it was Russia?
zero incentive for Germany to lie about this…
Why have we lied about the need for more weapons?

The government works for the elite, not for the people.
The US need a war against China to stay number one. That war is much easier if Europe takes care of Russsia. That’s enough incentive.
I mean, yeah, that would be an explanation, but again, we are already arming up, so what’s to gain here? (Plus the US is at war already and not in any shape to attack China rn.)
Would we continue to arm up if we stop feeling threatened?
To beat China, weapon production must continue so that the US and the EU get in shape. While we defend against Russia we also prepare to fight China.
