        According to this it seems that it’s transitive so it goes back all the way to the 1600’s as long as they were a Canadian citizen or (before either 1947 or 1949, depending on province) a British subject living in Canada.

        This rule also applies to you if you were born to someone who became Canadian because of these rule changes.

          I will have to tell any family I have that might want to emigrate at some point thanks for the information I can’t believe I didn’t know that.

        It appears to be transitive so if you can prove a link back to them, every descendent counts as a Canadian citizen.
