I live in Australia and have not seen a gambling ad since facebook barred me three years ago. I don’t own a tv antenna.

I already don’t see gambling ads, or indeed any ads at all online. That said, why not just make gambling ads illegal? They managed to do it for tobacco.

“I don’t get any ads”Well, that plus ruthless adblocking. At most I get ad-reads on Youtube channels, which I skip.
Last year I was going to prank everyone with some fake-but-plausible ads on the site on April 1, but I got busy and never got around to it. This year I just outright forgot. I’ll get around to it one year. 🤫

There is no excuse to vote for them, or for one nation, united, trumpet, the gun lickers, family first etc
People still do though.
It came after concerns people would find it difficult to opt-out of gambling ads on each individual website, so a central opt-out service was announced instead.
This all sounds like a ploy to link our identities between services for tracking.
For everyone skeptical, we have a central “do not dial” scheme that you can add your phone number to and legally opt out of ever getting a telemarketing call that has worked very well.
Likewise we have “do not ring” notices people can self-apply on doors making it illegal for door-knockers to bother you that has also worked very well.
So this is just bureaucrats trying to extend that thinking to gambling ads on the internet… They mean well, but it’s much more technically complex to hide a certain type of ad from specific users and I don’t think they get that.
Would be much, much easier to just ban gambling ads… But as other have said, they’re big political donors in some states…
So, you’ll just need to provide your name, email or phone to any internet site and app you use? Maybe your ID too.

Do you think this is now the new model? oh we gave them the chance to opt out of ads, no one signed up, so looks like they like gambling.
Gambling should be treated like every addition. Cigarettes cant be advertised…follow the same path. If they really wanted a change they could put strict rules on pokies, pubs etc…but nah. I have empathy for those in the grip. not for the chains and orgs that push it.
