    this may sound shallow and totally unfair to developers but the one thing keeping me from using Gimp is the icons. If only they had a better style and muted tone, and I have tried all icon packages and themes and still can’t get used to them.

        Bright and chunky. Some of them are weirdly oversized while others lack definition. There is something off that distracts from the work.

          There it is ! chunky icons attract my attention too. Definitely room for improvement there

          Interesting. That aligns somewhat with another comment I heard recently about buttons.

          I’m not currently able to change the actual icons in my themes, but their ‘brightness’ is easy to adjust. If you want to do it yourself you can edit the rgb values on line 180 in the gimp.css file starting ‘@define-color fg-color’. They’re currently set at 245 but you could change them to 230 for example.
