German state Bavaria cancels billion euro contract with Microsoft

German state Bavaria has canceled a nearly billion-euro agreement with US tech giant Microsoft to pursue a “sovereign basic workspace” based on open-source software.

Another major institution is moving away from Big Tech. More are expected to follow
