If it wasn’t a monopoly they wouldn’t be able to prevent games being sold on other services for cheaper
If they were a monopoly there wouldn’t be so many competing retailers.
Also, they really don’t. I frequently buy games from other vendors for less than steam has them for, and I receive steam keys.
