Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) said on Wednesday that they would seek to expel Maureen Galindo, a Democrat running for Congress in Texas who has expressed extreme antisemitic views, if she is elected.

He made a similar comment, and expounded on the situation, during a House hearing earlier in the day, describing Galindo’s comments as a logical escalation of attacks on Jewish and pro-Israel Americans and U.S. support for Israel, which have become increasingly common in Democratic politics.

I’m not creating an account to read the article. Are any details provided about what “extreme antisemitic views” were expressed ? The accusation of “attacks on Jewish and pro-Israel Americans and U.S. support for Israel” makes me curious because there is a lot of conflation of these distinct things lately. It is possible to want Jewish people to be healthy and thriving without supporting Netanyahu’s policies and without wanting to give Israel unconditional aid.

Controversy-tarred congressional candidate Maureen Galindo this week pledged to transform a site south of San Antonio now used by the Trump administration to detain migrants into an internment camp for “American Zionists.”

“She’ll turn Karnes ICE Detention Center into a prison for American Zionists and former ICE officers for human trafficking,” Galindo wrote in an Instagram post over the weekend, referring to herself in the third person. “It will also be a castration processing center for pedophiles, which will probably be most of the Zionists.”

Galindo maintained she only has an issue with zionists, or those advocating for the existence of a Jewish state in their ancestral homeland, rather than Jews in general.

“I think it’s actually the zionists who are putting Jewish people at the most risk,” Galindo told the Current last week.

Yikes! Thanks for posting the details. That’s a whole ball of WTF.

ETA: I do like the idea of locking up ICE agents, but only ones found guilty of crimes. But I’m just picking corn out of a turd

No. But it still isn’t good.

I would like to live in a world where people can vote for a viable candidate who doesn’t support genocide AND who doesn’t support putting anyone in concentration camps.

Are you familiar with the candidate? Were those statements some kind of hyperbole? I can see someone casually saying “all those ICE pigs need to be thrown in alligator Alcatraz” but that would an incredibly flippant public statement from a real political candidate. Supporting Israel isn’t illegal. It’s immoral and wrong but I’m not gonna support throwing people in concentration camps for their awful opinions.

Why? Because we all pretend that it is together? Throwing ICE in Alcatraz should be the moderate opinion.

How about for sending weapons to genocide Muslims in a concentration camp?
