I have said it before, and I’ll say it again.

An adblocker is part on my security suite on my computer.

Ads can be hijacked to spread malware, and unless the site owner agrees to take both financial and legal liability for the possible dammage caused by their website I will never consider removing my adblocker.

If they agreed to take on the responsibility, I still wouldn’t remove my adblocker, but I would consider it.

  • Yeah, I made my comment as I am tired of fanboyism, I have daily driven Linux in the past, I was the Linux sysadmin at a major financial institution for years, Linux is awesome!

But please don’t get arrogant and claim it is faultless, with constructive criticism it can only get better.

Right now I am running Windows as my daily, and my work is only in Windows.

I dailied Linux back in the 2.8 days, I remember a class mate having to manually edit the kernel source code to get his USB mobile broadband modem to work, I had modems from another brand, so I only had to run USB mode switcher to get mine working.

I set up Fluxbox from scratch to get a fantastic UI experience on my laptop.

    I know Linux.

I switched back to Windows for gaming, and now with W11 and gaming support for Linux, I am looking to move back to Linux.

I am no Windows nor Linux fanboy.

  • I remember the countless excuses for similar attacks on schools and hospitals.

The fault is either organizational where no single person can be blamed, or it is the action of a low ranking individual who takes the fall.

Often it is the fault of the enemy, who “used a children’s hospital as a meeting point”, so it is clearly their fault!

Just read up on the 2015 Kunduz Hospital Airstrike for one example, the Lions Lead By Donkeys podcast has a good episode on it.

  • I will if I can, as it stands I have four 8TB seagate drives, enough for my actual storage need, but I want to have two parity drives for extra protection.

I am planning on running ZFS with Zraid2, the drives are the final piece of the puzzle to at least get it working.

When I planned the build, I planned to get another controller card and run two SSDs as well, one for cache (I can add that later), and one for VM/App storage, I also planned on getting an Intel GPU for transcoding video, and a 10Gig NIC, mainly just to say I have it, as my network isn’t more than normal gigabit.

It is getting more important to complete the build as I need to move my media from single, non raided hard drives in my computer to a well raided server that I can configure for bitrot protection.

This is partly why I haven’t got into air rifles, I have wanted to for a long time, but there is no good place to shoot it nearby.

Some may say that I should just go out in the woods and shoot there, but I don’t want to spread lead in nature.

I know there are lead free pellets, but I have heard mixed opinions about them.

    Why an air rifle specifically?

Because I can get a low power one (10J muzzle energy) without a license, and I can’t be arsed to get a license for a proper firearm as it requires a fair commitment here.
